Grace Alchini, who gave a talk at the Image Conference in Athens, talks about her conference experience.

1. What did you enjoy about The Image Conference?
Everything! All the talks I attended were both enjoyable and interesting. I loved meeting old and new friends and colleagues, and the organising team made me feel most welcome and comfortable. It was my first Image Conference and I could feel, probably because of the sessions and the people involved, a warm and humane atmosphere all through the event.
2. How was The Image Conference different from other conferences you’ve been to?
One area of ELT only, at the same time combined with the arts, made the conference a bit more specialized and focused. Fewer talks to choose from, but a hard time deciding which to attend, as all of them were closely related to our interests.
3. What were the main discussion points to arise in The Image Conference?
Visual literacy, creativity, values , and migration. The talks related to refugees were truly insightful and thought-provoking. As a migrant myself ( though in different circumstances), and the daughter of a migrant whose parents had to escape poverty, I found the topic deeply moving.
