Teacher and trainer Susana Oliveira talks about her experience at the Image Conference in Lisbon.
- What did you enjoy about The Image Conference?
I enjoyed the organization and the space.
- How was The Image Conference different from other conferences you’ve been to?
It was different because it had the “international” factor behind it, and I think it was an honor for Portugal to have been chosen to organize it, especially for APPI. This highlights the fact that we have excellent professionals in our country as well.
- Sum up your talk briefly.
My talk was on the integration of image in ELT with the help of free web tools and digital resources. I presented a selection of tools and resources teachers can use in the classroom in order to make English teaching more effective and to engage learners in an innovative and creative way. I focused on image manipulation web tools and on the creation of personalized illustrations, flashcards and moving and talking pictures. I also presented a series of free/open source image galleries.
- What were the main discussion points to arise in The Image Conference?
During my session I felt the need teachers have to find useful, practical materials and tools which they can effectively use in their classrooms with theirs students.
