Lisa Phillips, whose talk at the Image Conference in Valetta, Malta was on visual literacy in English language teaching, answers the post-conference questionnaire.
- What did you enjoy about The Image Conference?
Paul Driver’s opening plenary was excellent, and the other workshops throughout the day were of a very high quality.
- How was The Image Conference different from other conferences you’ve been to?
It seemed a lot fresher and more creative, perhaps due to the influence/cross-pollination from other fields.
- What were the main discussion points to arise in The Image Conference?
Questioning the validity of gamification as it has been commonly applied in ELT as opposed to the application of true game theory.
The importance of raising awareness of issues such as equality.
- Where would you like to see the next edition of The Image Conference held?
If it’s near where I am, I would be delighted to speak again!
